Simply put, a handmade kitchen is crafted individually for you. Each project we undertake is composed of a collection of bespoke cabinets. We don't work with mass-produced 'off-the-shelf' products and nails (ew!). Instead, each cabinet is meticulously crafted from four key elements: the carcass, frames, drawers, and doors.
Carcass
The backbone of every cabinet is the carcass. Made from either veneered MDF or oak-veneered plywood, our carcasses are strong and sturdy. They serve as the main structure that supports all other components, including some seriously heavy worktops. While the carcass is rarely seen, it can be painted for feature cabinets such as larders and countertop cupboards to create a stunning visual effect.
Frame
The framework, typically a hardwood surround associated with a traditional shaker style, hides the carcass end grain and provides a durable, protective surround for the drawers and doors. Frames can either match the main colour scheme and blend in or offer a contrasting look, such as framing a natural oak drawer.
Drawers
Our standard drawer boxes are crafted from solid oak using the faultless dovetail joint for all four corners. We also offer other materials, such as ash and walnut, upon request. Our drawers are fitted with 40kg-rated soft-close runners, which can be upgraded to 60kg for heavier crockery. Additionally, we can create secret, tech-charging, and super-wide drawers because we understand your kitchen should be handcrafted to suit your unique lifestyle and needs.
Doors
We ensure each cabinetry door is fitted with self-lubricating soft-close hinges that don't slam and can each take a load of 10kg. Our kitchen doors are handmade from hardwood or engineered materials using mortise and tenon joints, a technique proven for centuries for strength and structural integrity.
A handmade kitchen is more than just a collection of cabinets; it's a reflection of your personal style and needs. Each component, from the unseen carcass to the beautifully crafted doors, is designed with care and precision to ensure your kitchen is both functional and breathtakingly beautiful.
